Seniors are more active than ever these days and the Seniors of Giles County are no exception.
Giles County Senior Center, Incorporated,
is a 501c3 whose purpose is to serve the senior population
of Giles county ages 60 and older. The center provides services including; resource information –
referring clients to various agencies including legal aid; physical fitness and exercise programming;
education on a variety of subjects including health, social issues, technical and artistic endeavors;
telephone reassurance and socialization programs; SAIL (Staying Active and Independent for Life)
evidence based programming;nutrition – including daily congregate meals for a suggested donation
$1.25 for 60 and over and the Meals on Wheels Program (please call 24 hours in advance to ensure a
meal is reserved for you for meals at the center or Meals on Wheels).
The Center is open five days a week 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and also encompasses Giles County Public
Transportation. With courteous, professional drivers, the Transportation Department acts as a vital
link to the community for those with transportation needs, covering everything from appointments with
physicians and diagnostic centers to local shopping trips to pharmacies and retail establishments.
At least a 24 hour notice for transportation is requested.
